List of Symbols

The editors of this CD ROM attempt to comply to a consistent notation and use of symbols throughout this CD ROM. This task is particularly appreciated by the readers, but it was sometimes received a little less enthousiastically by authors of proposed contributions to this CD ROM. As you will see in the table, double use of certain symbols appeared unavoidable, unless we added lengthy subscripts which would lead to a cluttered mathematical notation. We tolerated such double usage if confusion is unlikely, thus, if it is unlikely that both uses would occur in the same page.

The following list is not complete. If you are a prospective author, please consult the Editor-in-Chief.
