PROMOT Computer Program

PROMOT (PRObe vehicle concept for MOnitoring road Traffic) studies the efficiency of the probe vehicle concept in general and the compares the performance protocols for uplink probe vehicle transmission, viz. ALOHA and polling. To a limited extent, it can be used a network planning tool.

Promot runs under DOS, and has a menu structure to enter parameter of the calculations or simulation.

A demonstration version of PROMOT which runs out out-of-the-box on this CD (of course, only on DOS/Windows) can be found in the directory html/software/promot of the CD. To try it out, changedir to this directory in a DOS prompt and run ANALYT.EXE.
The com[plete Promot Software is available in .zip format for MS DOS, D:\html\software\ivhsprog.zip. Please copy it into a C:\ivhsprog\ directory and use pkunzip -d ivhsprog.zip to install on a PC harddisk. The -d option ensure that the appropriate subdirectories will be created. Then run IVHSH.

PROMOT has menus to choose traffic and communication parameters.
