Jens Zander

Jens Zander received the M.S degree in Electrical Engineering and the Ph.D Degree from Linköping University, Sweden, in 1979 and 1985 respectively.

From 1985 to 1989 he was a partner and vice president of SECTRA, an R&D consultant firm. In 1989 he was appointed professor and head of the Radio Communication Systems Laboratory, now within the department of Teleinformatics at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Since 1992 he also serves as Senior Scientific Advisor (associate research manager) to the Swedish National Deference Research Establishment and on the board of TERACOM, the Swedish National broadcasting operator. In addition, he serves as consultant to government agencies and industry on spectrum allocation issues.

Dr Zander has published numerous papers in the field of Radio Communication, in particular on system aspects of Personal Communication Systems. Dr Zander was the recipient of the IEEE VTS "Jack Neubauer Award" for best systems paper in 1992. He has published a textbook in Digital Radio Communications which is the standard textbook in Swedish Universities in this field.

He is presently co-chairman of the technical program committee of IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference in Stockholm, June 1994, and serves on the advisory committee of the joint IEEE/ICCC Conference on Wireless Data Communications in The Hague, September 1994.

His current research interests include spectrum resource allocation issues in high capacity personal communication systems, advanced HF-communication systems and systems for digital wireless broadcasting.

Dr Zander is member of the IEEE (S'82-M'85) and adjoint member of the Swedish URSI Committee, in Sections C & GH.
