Ralf Haas was born in 1966 in Germany. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in 1992 from the Aachen University of Technology, Germany.
In 1993, he joined the Communications department of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Télécommunications (Télécom Paris), Paris, France where he worked with Dr. J.-C. Belfiore on applications of multicarrier modulation in mobile radio systems. From February to April 1995, he worked as a research visitor with Prof. C. Leung in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. He received his PhD degree in January 1996 from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Télécommunications.
In March 1996, he joined the Mobile Networks department of Siemens AG, Munich, as a technical project manager.
