UMTS stands for Universal Mobile Telecommunications System. It is a candidate for the IMT-2000 family of systems specified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). It is a complete system solution, including Terminals, Radio Access and Core Networks. It includes both Terrestrial and Satellite segments.
