The telecommunications market are growing fast, due to increased technical
possibilities and growing demands on bandwidth (because applications are becoming
more and more multimedia). Lots of new, more advanced mobile multimedia
applications are now possible of will be possible soon in the future. When we
introduce these new applications, a few questions occur.

The
first question contains the problem of what market we’d like to introduce the
new products on. Do we first encounter the professional market or should we aim
at the consumer market? We will answer this question further on.

The
second question is about the applications themselves. What kind of killer-applications
should be invented and for what kind of professions are they needed /
necessary? This management summary will also provide an answer for this
problem.

Our
advise on the first question is to introduce new mobile multimedia applications
on the professional market. This market seems more trustable and more money is
available for certain very specific applications. An other advantage is the
fact that the producer of the applications knows the customer. On the consumer
market it still remains a wild guess if certain applications will be a success.

It
is important to look what the need of the users is and not what the technology
offers. If it is perfectly high-tech but it is something that the users don’t
really want to pay for, it will not come to a success. The users will define
the success. A great consumer market will be the criterion for a
killer-application.

Our goal is to penetrate the journalism-market, we propose an application that allows journalists to send their articles, photographs and other media like video, wireless to their editors and publishers. This will make it a lot easier for journalists to send their data in places where fixed means of communication are poor or totally missing. For the required infrastructure we recommend a joint venture with one or several telecommunications-providers. This will give the users of our application a significant advantage, compared to the users of traditional services.
